Specialty Courses at Okeechobee Shooting Sports
 Close Encounter Defense Training (using Force-on-Force Techniques): 2 Days / $300
In this course, we address defending yourself while protecting your firearm during a physical assault, through transitioning to the use of justified deadly force. This course is designed to teach our students Hand-to-Hand defensive techniques, practical firearms skills, and real-time deadly force decision making. It is a progressive building block class that will allow you to combine skills learned during each session into scenario-based exercises, using gas or electric Airsoft Weapons. Topics covered include: Mental preparation & awareness, the selection of carry gear, methods of carry, security & concealment, personal self defense to protect you and your weapon, transitioning to deadly force, drawing and shooting from a concealed carry position, target focus shooting, shooting while moving, utilization of cover, and decision making.
Firearm and Ammunition Required: Personal Airsoft gas or eletric pistol (preferably a replica of your carry weapon) and a minimum of 500 Airsoft BBs.
Prerequisites: All students must have a concealed weapons permit.
Additional Equipment: Holster, spare gas, batteries or charger for your airsoft gun, heavy long sleeve shirt and pair of gloves, airsoft mask / goggles and shooting glasses, ear protection, change of clothes (you will get dirty), and knee pads. 
 

 Night Shoot: 4 Hours / $200 
This course will be held in complete darkness. Students

Night Shoot

 will be taught to use flash lights, ambient light, police flashing lights etc. to identify and engage threats. This is a pistol / carbine / shotgun course. Bring the firearm that you would expect to be using for defense at night, whether this may be at home or on the job as law enforcement. Topics covered include: moving and shooting from light to dark areas, moving and shooting from dark to light areas, moving and shooting in and around vehicles, stress-induced shooting, instinctive shooting, "fight ready" mindset, shooting from cover and reloading techniques including speed loads and tactical reloads in the dark.
Ammunition Required: 200 rounds minimum
Prerequisites: Safety is paramount. All participants must be experienced shooters who are competent with their chosen firearm. This class is not to teach you the fundamentals of drawing and reloading your firearm. Students are expected to have this knowledge prior to the course to promote safety and optimal learning.

Additional Equipment: Holster and/or slings, spare magazines for pistol and rifle, spare magazine / ammo pouches, ear and eye protection, bug spray, rain gear, elbow and knee pads, baseball cap, clothing that will allow you to work on the ground.
