Carbine / Rifle Courses at Okeechobee Shooting Sports
 Introduction to Carbine / Rifle: Four Hours / $150 ($135 for Range Members)
This class covers the basics of using your chosen carbine. Your instructor will cover Firearms Safety, Firearm Nomenclature, Firearm Specific Anomalies, Carbine Accessories, Gun Management and Maintenance.
Ammunition Required: 100 Rounds Minimum

 AR15 / M4 Platform Principles: Four Hours / $150 ($135 for Range Members)
This course is geared towards anyone looking to learn how to use the AR15 platform safely, effectively and reliably. It offers owners of AR-15 / M-4 /M-16 style rifles the necessary skill set for safe and proper application of this AR platform. Students will become familiarized with the AR-15 / M-4 rifle and will learn the basic gun-handling skills that are necessary to safely operate and maintain this weapon system. Topics covered include:  Nomenclature, Mechanical Operation, Disassembly & Reassembly, Function Checking, Fundamentals of Rifle Shooting, Sling Use & Carry Techniques, Zeroing Sights, Understanding Projectile Trajectory, Shooting Positions, Preventive Maintenance and Cleaning.
Ammunition Required: 100 rounds
Additional Equipment: AR-15 or M-4 type rifle with iron sights, sling and at least 2 magazines, elbow pads, knee pads and gun cleaning kit.

 Tactical Carbine / Pistol Course: Full Day / $200 ($175 for Range Members)
This all day course covers Firearm Specific Anomalies, Carry Options and Accessories, Using Cover, Standing, Kneeling and Prone Positions, Shooting On The Move, Transitioning from Carbine To Pistol and Pistol to Rifle, Shooting From Cover, and Reloading Techniques including Speed Loads and Tactical Reloads.
Ammunition Required: 500 rounds rifle plus 200 rounds pistol minimum
Prerequisites: All students must have completed our Handgun Intro or a comparable course and be familiar with their carbine of choice. This is not a course for new shooters, rifle or handgun.
 
 
Additional Equipment: Sling, Strong Side Holster, Magazine Carriers, and a Minimum of Three Magazines for each Gun

 Advanced Tactical Carbine: Full Day / $200 ($175 for Range Members)
This class is all about getting the most from your carbine including transition to your secondary firearm. Covers: Using the Carbine in a Dynamic Environment, Using Angles, Team Tactics, Stress-Induced Shooting and Instinctive Shooting, Firearms Safety, “Fight Ready” Mind-set, Firearm Specific Anomalies, Using Unusual Shooting Positions, Shooting On The Move, Shooting From Cover, and Reloading Techniques including Speed Loads and Tactical Reloads.
Ammunition Required: 5-600 rounds rifle plus 200 handgun minimum
Prerequisites: All students must have successfully completed our Tactical Carbine / Pistol Course.
Additional Equipment: Sling, Strong Side Holster, Magazine Carriers, and a Minimum of Three Magazines for each Gun

 Rifle Skills Development (previously Long Gun Tuition): Four Hours / $150 ($135 for Range Members)

This training session allows you to come and shoot with us on a 200 yard tactical range with reactive targets. Bring what you have: AR / AK, semi, bolt, pump or lever action from .22 to .50cal. Don’t own one, that's not a problem, you can use one of ours.  Let us help you sight your long guns in, work out your dope, and perfect your shooting positions, trigger control, and recoil management. A half day of shooting focused on your individual needs / interests with expert coaching by our NRA certified instructors.

 Tactical Drills Day: $65
Want to shoot your pistol, shotgun or AR in a realistic, fun and safe environment? Fed up with paper punching? Want to shoot while moving? Well look no more!. These practice days were inspired by many of our current and past students as well as 3-Gun shooters who have requested a forum where they can put into “practice” the skills and techniques that they have learned during training. This is a perfect opportunity for newer or seasoned shooters that are seeking to enhance their gun-handling skills with their semi-automatic pistol, carbine and shotgun. Our instructors will select key training skill sets and create multiple drills designed to practice those skills. This is a Skills Practice Day, not a Course.
Student requirements: Students should be familiar with their equipment and have solid firearms safety and gun handling skills. Eye protection, ear protection, hat, belt with holster and magazine carriers, semi-auto pistol with at least 3 hi-capacity magazines or 5 single stack magazines, AR-15 or M-4 rifle / AK / Mini 14 or similar rifle with at least 3 magazines and sling, 12 gauge pump-action or semi-automatic shotgun and sling, knee pads, elbow pads and gun cleaning kit.
Recommended equipment: Shotgun shell pouch, rifle magazine carriers, rain gear, sunscreen, insect repellent, hydration system, water and clothing suitable for working from the ground.
Ammunition Required: 
If Shooting Rifle: 200 rounds rifle minimum (no steel core, bimetal or tracer ammo), 
If Shooting Pistol: 100 rounds handgun minimum (no steel core, bimetal or tracer ammo),
If Shooting Shotgun: 60 rounds birdshot, 20 rounds buckshot (# 4 to 000 allowed) and 10 rifled slugs minimum.
NO ARMOR PIERCING, NO TRACER, NO BIMETAL AMMO.

Four Hours of shooting focused on your individual needs / interests with expert coaching. This training session allows you to come and shoot with us out to 500 yards. We will be taking over the entire facility. Let us help you work out your dope, perfect your shooting positions, breathing, wind and distance judging, and calling your shot. We offer this class the 4th Wednesday of every month. Space is limited to six students.
Ammunition Required:
Dependent on student, minimum 40rds recommended
Prerequisites: N/A
Additional Equipment: A Zeroed, Scoped Rifle, Shooting Mat, Notebook and Pen, and Scope Adjustment Tools. A Bi-pod or Sandbags, Range Finder, and Spotting Scope are also recommended.

 Long Range Rifle Immersion Level One: Two Days / $550 ($475 for Range Members)
This course will be invaluable to anyone who wants to experience the satisfaction of long range precision marksmanship. It is specifically designed around the needs of shooters (both new and old) that are interested in learning the fundamental skills for shooting accurately out to 500 yards whether for hunting or sport. Course intent is to cover the techniques required to achieve first round hits out to 500 yards. This is a marksmanship skills course and does not include advanced sniper techniques. Course consists of classroom and on-range practical training that includes Safety, Rifle Set-up, Optic Set-up and Correct Placement, Sighting In, Bi-pod, Sling and Ammunition Selection and Ballistic Comparisons, Correct Bench and Prone Shooting Positions, Understanding Eye Relief, Breathing, Grip, Trigger Control, Follow Through, and Cleaning Your Rifle. This course is offered twice a year. Space is limited to six students.
Ammunition Required: 200-250 rounds of match ammunition. NO Steel Core or Penetrating ammo allowed.
Prerequisites: N/A
Additional Equipment: A 308, 5.56 or similar caliber Precision Rifle capable of Minute of Angle Accuracy (Precision rifles are a necessity for a course of this kind.), Quality Adjustable Scope (A scope that will allow for precision shooting at 500+ yards, Mil Dot, Target Turrets, BDC or Meridian Reticules are recommended.), Bipod, Sling, Rear Bag, Cleaning Kit, Pen, Pencil, Highlighter, Rifle Data Book or Notebook, Calculator.

 Long Range Rifle Immersion Level Two: Two Days / $550 ($475 for Range Members)
This course is for experienced rifle shooters that want to push their individual abilities with a precision rifle in varying conditions and environments. It has application to many different aspects of marksmanship including military/law enforcement, competition, and hunting. Anyone interested in placing precision fire on point targets at or near the maximum effective range of their rifle will learn the art and science involved in doing so in this course. THIS IS NOT A BASIC COURSE. As with all of our ADVANCED courses, it has a relatively complex curriculum that includes; Advanced Fundamentals of Marksmanship, Ballistics, Reading Wind, Range Estimation, Observation Skills, Target Engagements to 500 yards, Alternate Positions, Shooter / Spotter Techniques and Responsibilities, Terminology and Communications, Standing, Kneeling, Supported and Improvised Positions, Moving Targets, Shooting from Elevated Positions (up to 50 feet off the ground) and Timed Targets. This course will utilize the entire 40 acre facility, fully taking advantage of all the ranges on-site.  Students that complete the course will have a proficiency in handling a firearm under stress conditions, advanced marksmanship fundamentals, and a combined knowledge of their personal capabilities with their equipment. This course is offered twice a year. Space is limited to six students.
